Message from Dave Prentis

Thanks to all of you for your work in supporting our campaign. And thanks to everyone who voted.

It is a great honour to be re-elected to lead this great union in these challenging times.

It won't be easy. We have a coalition government determined to make our members pay the price for the recession; a government which aims to sacrifice our public services to satisfy the market.

Now, more than ever, we need a strong and united union.

It is time to work together, ignoring those who might seek to divide or distract us.

UNISON, this great union that I am so proud to lead, will speak up for the voiceless and vulnerable. UNISON will demand fairness. UNISON will defend our members and the vital public services they provide.

Thanks again for your support, now let's show that this really is our time.

Dave Prentis
UNISON general secretary
